Grant Money Still To Be Had
Let’s Spend Our Grant!
It’s getting toward the end of the year – the time that I get worried about not spending our grant. We still have almost $15,000 available for professional development grants. If you want to run a project, it’s not too late.
Here are some ideas to get the rest of the money spent:
- Thinkfinity/Delicious grant – This grant has been very successful. People who are using Thinkfinity along with a Delicious (online bookmark account) are having great success storing and sharing lessons, activities, and sites. Please click here for a short video describing the program.
- Small tech grants – We’ve done quite a few grants for smaller tech stuff like scanners, cameras, and Ipod Touches. This equipment has to remain the property of the Teacher Center, and teachers need to provide evidence of their learning and use of the products. For further information, please contact me.
- November Learning Web Literacy Grants – We did a bunch of these in the last few years, but not many this year. November Learning still offers two great web literacy courses. Upon completion of each course, teachers can get a $100 stipend from the Teacher Center. To take a look at the courses, click here. If you’re looking to get the stipend, you shouldn’t sign up for a course with them until you get the OK from us and the proper sign in info that ties you to our account.
Ipod Touch Grants
We recently bought some Ipod Touch models from Apple. The people that have the first batch have been very happy with them. We will be monitoring what the teachers are doing with them – how well they are learning how to use them and the quality of learning that is going on with their use. I will report on this soon. If you’re interested in one, fill out a Tech Grant form. All forms are available on our grant apps page.
Event Success
This year’s numbers have been very good this year. Thanks once again to Barb Van Wicklin and BOCES for cosponsoring our events. This partnership allows our public districts to use their BOCES substitute coser. Barb is the best! The partnership over the last few years has made this grant much more effective. To date, we have almost 1,000 people who have attended a workshop this year. You can see our activities file here: Activities 2009-10
